The Dillinger Escape Plan at the Webster

On Saturday Nov 19, 2016, my good friend Joe Divita hooked me up with a chance to shoot The Dillinger Escape Plan at the Webster Theater.

One of the most challenging concert elements for me to shoot is the fog machine. To this day, I haven’t found a good method or combination of settings that will cut through fog. Flash will just reflect off the fog itself, and if I don’t use flash, I have to pump the ISO up so high that sensor noise shows up in addition to the fog, making it look even more blurry, discolored, and unnatural.

As of now, the only trick I really know of is to try and wait until the fog clears a little bit, and hope that the venue isn’t too trigger-happy with spraying out more of it. Someday I’ll figure out a way to work with it.

Take a look at my pictures here, along with Joe’s excellent show review.
